The 3 interior design trends that will guide 2023
The lasr few eyars required us to turn our attention inwards, towards the way we live in our most intimate space: our homes. Our houses became the main stage of all our activities and social interactions for a long time, which led us to reevaluate decor choices taken before the lockdown and deal with the blurred boundaries between spaces of leisure and of work.
As 2023 beggins, we worry less about the pandemic, but economic and environmental concerns persist. Our attention now turns outwards: trends highlight solutions capable of combining our needs for functionality and personal well-being with those of a more responsible and sustainable consumption and production.
Here are 3 interior design trends to keep an eye on in 2023:
Long-lasting furniture and recyclable material
The top trend that will continue in 2023? It is unquestionably sustainability.
The importance of sustainability will see more and more consumers move away from fast-furniture and invest in designs that can truly stand the test of time.
A piece of furniture made with durable components and which, at the same time, can be easily recycled at the end of its life cycle, will lead this trend.

Aluminum, the raw material used in all Atim’s production, is one of these materials: it gives durability and resistance to the mechanisms and, on top of that, it can be recycled indefinitely without losing its original characteristics.
Transformable furniture: optimize spaces and investments
This topic becomes even more urgent in large urban centres, where the high cost of living is strongly felt and where finding a spacious house or apartment requires a very high investment. In this context, the choice of transformable furniture will be a very strong trend in 2023, an ingenious solution to the space constraint that most of us face today.
Adding further functionality to home furnishings allows to respect each person’s lifestyle and to indulge in various activities in a simple and practical way.
Manufacturers, designers and architects interested in finding intelligent and surprising solutions to optimize the space and investment of their customers can check the wide range of furnishing systems from the Atim Trasformabili collection, pioneer in the sector.
Well-being lies in forms: curved furniture is back
When designing aany home interior, perhaps even more important than the aesthetics of the furniture are the sensations that they make us feel. A trend that has recently emerged and which will still conquer a lot of space in 2023 is furniture with curved shapes.
Even though curved furniture is far from new, it is becoming more and more popular due to the fact that it exudes a relaxing, calming and welcoming feeling due to the softness and organic looks of the curves.
Curved sofas are just one of many examples of this edgeless design trend that aims to create a relaxing environment that benefits mental and physical health.
The manufacture of rounded shapes requires very specific technology and know-how, in which Atim has invested heavily in recent years. We support large furniture manufacturers in the development of customized solutions for their most ambitious projects.
Keep an eye on these 3 design trends for 2023 and your interior design projects will surely be a success!

Sliding tops: the solution for a functional, tidy and elegant kitchen
To furnish a modern kitchen, before even starting to select its materials, colors and appliances, the main concern should be the search for the best solutions to organize its space.
Those who want to create a functional kitchen which is, at the same time, aesthetically elegant, can innovate by applying a sliding top, such as those proposed in Atim’s Trasformabili line. Among the different models available, the solutions surprise for their ease of use, great resistence and that evident touch of design.
Striking sliding tops for the open plan kitchen
The trend of the openspace kitchen, connected to the living room, puts the kitchen island as protagonist of the whole room. To facilitate its organization, cleaning and use, it’s possible to apply a sliding top that completely or partially covers the worktop.
When closed, Top 33 conceals the whole worktop, giving the kitchen a clean and modern design. The elegance of the top’s minimum thickness (only 33 mm) is combined with the aluminum guides that make up its sliding system, guaranteeing a 60kg load capacity.
But why stop at the worktop, when you can add a design top that embelishes also the side of the island? Flap creates a sliding snack counter. Thanks to its guides, recessed laterally and under the island top, it is possible to enjoy a convenient snack angle placed at the end of the cabinet.
The sliding top that extends the kitchen peninsula
Both enthusiasts and design professionals are increasingly falling in love with the peninsula at the kitchen. There are several good reasons for that: it is the right compromise between the linear kitchen and the kitchen island, it adapts to either larger or smaller rooms and it often proves to be the key solution to take advantage of the available space in the best possible way.
Also in this configuration, Trasformabili sliding top solutions are an ally to improve the use of space, combining practicality with the “wow” effect of a design kitchen. Breakfast Top, for example, extends the island, creating a snack corner or hiding the worktops at will.
One more thing to keep in mind: the top doesn’t have to necessarily slide linearly. Solutions such as Corner add a surprising effect to the kitchen especially for its diagonal movement.
How to apply the sliding top in the linear kitchen

Is it possible to have a sliding top in a linear kitchen? If you’ve ever asked yourself this question, here’s the answer: yes, it’s possible to optimize even the top of a linear kitchen with a sliding mecchanism.
The different sizes of Atim’s Corner system allow the application of a top that slides diagonally.
This solution not only creates a comfortable snack corner in the kitchen, but also helps to expand the worktop when preparing meals.

Summer, vacantions and freedom: the growth of the RV market and new surprising furnishing solutions
A traveling house offers all the comfort, freedom and safety. Lately the number of vanlife supporters has increased exponentialy, boosting the continuous research of the sector for furniture that make spaces even more practical and comfortable.
Caravan, camper and motorhome trips were among the most popular forms of vacation in summer 2020. According to a survey conducted by Erwin Hymer Group in Europe, the sector has seen a 20% increase compared to 2019 and almost half of the vacationers who were on the road on a four-wheeled home were new to this kind of travel. The trend promises to be reconfirmed in 2021 and to continue to grow in the coming years: Germany, for example, has just recorded the best half-year in its history regarding the sale of caravans and motorhomes. There were around 63,000 new registrations from January to July 2021 in agreement with the CIVD (the German Association for the Caravan Industry).
The health security measures dictated by the pandemic certainly gave it a great boost, but it is also true that it was not the only one: the vanlife style has been gaining more and more supporters around the world for a while. People who want a roving and independent holiday, dedicated to discovering the natural, historical and cultural treasures of the area with the utmost comfort.

Oplà +39 applied to Eila Edition One motorhome
For those who still think of recreational vehicles (RVs) as a symbol of a hippy era or an icon of the 1980’s, it suffices to say that some motorhomes can actually be compared to yachts, both for the organization of their spaces and for their high quality finishes. Some luxury models, such as the Morelo Grand Empire, presented at the last Dusseldorf Caravan Salon, can exceed a cost of 600,000 euros, for example.
Ultimately, holidays on a caravan or motorhome are more than a simple alternative to the anti-COVID precautions. It’s an actual travel philosophy.

Small spaces: how to create a practical home office with space-saving desks
Those who only have a few square meters available, fear not! Sometimes a single corner and the right desk are enough to create the perfect home office
Working from home has now become a widespread need among the most diverse sectors.
It certainly has its advantages, but to do it well it is important to have a dedicated space and, above all, to choose the solutions that suit your needs accordingly, both in moments of concentration and of leisure.
Those who have only a few square meters available must not fear! Here we will show how sometimes a corner is enough to create the perfect home office, a functional and comfortable space, due to space-saving furniture solutions that combine design, aesthetics and practicality.
Here is a list of pull-out tables and fold-away desks perfect for setting up the home office in a small house:
Concealed solutions: pull your desk out of a drawer
Have you ever thought about hiding a table in a drawer? The Lunch +39 system allows you to easily extract a 70 cm long table from a drawer compartment, giving more functionality to spaces of limited size. Lunch +39 can be installed in furniture with a minimum depth of 39 cm, normally present in the living room, bedroom or kid’s bedroom.
Once you have finished using it, simply return the top to the drawer compartment and make room for other activities.
Even a 39cm-deep shelf can contain a pull-out table suitable for creating a space-saving home office. With the Mensola T-Able +39 shelf you can get a desk of considerable size (135cm x 115cm) with a slightly adjustable height, thanks to its telescopic leg.
Its light and easy-to-handle structure, made of aluminum, guarantees resistance and stability to the table, capable of supporting up to 100kg evenly distributed on its surface. Here you can really place all the material you need to work well from home.
Increase privacy with a workstation that you pull out from tha wardrobe
When we integrate the home office into an environment, it may be necessary to obtain more privacy to ensure one’s concentration. In this case, even the wardrobe door can act as a movable wall, which separates without dividing.
Evolution is a system designed to take advantage of the use of the furniture door, allowing the extraction of a medium or large table from a cabinet. Available in different versions (Evolution, Evolution XL, Evolution +39, Evolution XL +39), this solution adapts perfectly to the different requirements of each project.
Evolution: the workstation hidden in the wardrobe
Use the internal compartments to keep objects within reach
No matter how large or how small, a perfect home office often requires one or more storage compartments where to keep magazines, books, documents, small objects of all sorts.
With Desk, simply open the flap door of your cabinet and voilà! Turn the door into your working table while, at the same time, you use the furniture’s internal compartment to keep all the necessary material to carry out your work.
The same concept applies to Homework, system for a folding 1-meter-long desk, which withstands up to 40kg thanks to the strength of the aluminum guides with which the mechanism is made.
Flush-to-top solutions: how to increase existing work surfaces
You can also choose to increase the worktops already available by adding a pull-out flush-to-top solution. With the Oplà mechanism it’s possible to extract an extra work surface that is kept hidden in a drawer compartment. When necessary, a few movements are enough to take the top out and position it flush with the shelf above, expanding its surface.
For those who want maximum elegance and design, the Oplà Folding +39 version keeps the mechanism completely hidden even with the shelf pulled out.
