Clever furniture solutions for a multifunctional kitchen
To be successful, an interior design project must not only reflect people’s lives but also anticipate their evolution. This accuracy goes way beyond the choice for long-lasting materials: furniture components should be both aesthetically appealing and highly functional.
This is why transformable furniture and multifunctional furniture, especially after the recent years undergone within often confined spaces, have been among the most appreciated and sought after by professionals. Clients look for practical solutions with innumerable purposes: furniture must transform quickly, last for a long time, facilitate different daily activities and increase the overall feeling of well-being.
With this in mind, Atim, leader in the creation of innovative furniture systems, has recently added many solutions to its Trasformabili line, created specifically to obtain the maximum functionality of any home environment – especially the kitchen.
The new Atim mechanisms multiply surfaces and support every activity, from the preparation of ingredients to the pleasure of savoring a delicious meal together with our loved ones.
What’s more surprising is that a standard kitchen drawer compartment is enough to accommodate even 3 different functions: not only the usual cutlery container, but also an extra work surface, a retractable chopping board or even a pull-out snack table.
Discover Functional, Universal Box, Blade and Cook, Atim’s multifunctional furniture systems.
Add an extra worktop to the cutlery drawer with Functional
This system of pull-out aluminum runners allows to add a practical pull-out worktop to the kitchen’s cutlery drawer. It’s quite useful for placing shopping bags or the ingredients of a recipe, among many other utilities that an extra surface can offer at the kitchen.
With a capacity of 40kg, Functional can be supplied with containers and tops of different sizes, according to the preferences of each customer.
Universal Box, the pull-out worktop for small appliances
A smart solution to further increase the functionality of tall units and cabinets in the kitchen: Universal Box creates a pull-out worktop equipped with a practical container, where you can easily access cutlery or other utensils used for preparing any recipe. Its application allows the use of small appliances with great freedom of movement.
In addition to that, the aluminum slides system that compose Universal Box offers two important benefits: the lightness necessary to open or close the entire mechanism even with one single hand and, at the same time, the resistance and stability necessary for a capacity of 60kg.
Blade, the practical chopping board hidden in a drawer
A pull-out chopping board can be very convenient to improve the functionality and organization of the kitchen. Blade creates a chopping board with an integrated knife holder and a waste bin – and the whole system fits inside a standard kitchen drawer.
Blade’s chopping board is fixed to the aluminium guides by pins, allowing it to be removed and moved according to need: bring it near the hob while preparing dinner or use it directly on the table to serve guests, but also place it under the tap to wash it before resinserting it on its dedicated drawer.
This extreme versatility makes the system indispensable in any kitchen, either new or about to be updated.
Cook, a fully equipped chef’s corner applied to the kitchen drawer
This is the ultimate solution to maximize the functionality of a kitchen drawer: Cook has 3 functions in a single mechanism.
Cook‘s aluminum guides give the smoothness and strength necessary for a capacity of 60kg. They support its cutlery container, chopping board and fold-away snack table. The solutions is supplied also with an aluminium basket which can be used to store chopped ingredients or as a bin.
The system is the ideal solution to create a well-equipped “chef’s corner”, which requires only the space of a standard drawer. As all the Trasformabili mechanisms, Cook can be applied both to new furniture or added as a new feature that updates other kitchen units.

The 3 interior design trends that will guide 2023
Make way for more sustainable materials, curved shapes and versatile furniture. Here are the top trends that will shape the home decor this year!
The lasr few eyars required us to turn our attention inwards, towards the way we live in our most intimate space: our homes. Our houses became the main stage of all our activities and social interactions for a long time, which led us to reevaluate decor choices taken before the lockdown and deal with the blurred boundaries between spaces of leisure and of work.
As 2023 beggins, we worry less about the pandemic, but economic and environmental concerns persist. Our attention now turns outwards: trends highlight solutions capable of combining our needs for functionality and personal well-being with those of a more responsible and sustainable consumption and production.
Here are 3 interior design trends to keep an eye on in 2023:
Long-lasting furniture and recyclable material
The top trend that will continue in 2023? It is unquestionably sustainability.
The importance of sustainability will see more and more consumers move away from fast-furniture and invest in designs that can truly stand the test of time.
A piece of furniture made with durable components and which, at the same time, can be easily recycled at the end of its life cycle, will lead this trend.

Aluminum, the raw material used in all Atim’s production, is one of these materials: it gives durability and resistance to the mechanisms and, on top of that, it can be recycled indefinitely without losing its original characteristics.
Transformable furniture: optimize spaces and investments
This topic becomes even more urgent in large urban centres, where the high cost of living is strongly felt and where finding a spacious house or apartment requires a very high investment. In this context, the choice of transformable furniture will be a very strong trend in 2023, an ingenious solution to the space constraint that most of us face today.
Adding further functionality to home furnishings allows to respect each person’s lifestyle and to indulge in various activities in a simple and practical way.
Manufacturers, designers and architects interested in finding intelligent and surprising solutions to optimize the space and investment of their customers can check the wide range of furnishing systems from the Atim Trasformabili collection, pioneer in the sector.
Well-being lies in forms: curved furniture is back
When designing aany home interior, perhaps even more important than the aesthetics of the furniture are the sensations that they make us feel. A trend that has recently emerged and which will still conquer a lot of space in 2023 is furniture with curved shapes.
Even though curved furniture is far from new, it is becoming more and more popular due to the fact that it exudes a relaxing, calming and welcoming feeling due to the softness and organic looks of the curves.
Curved sofas are just one of many examples of this edgeless design trend that aims to create a relaxing environment that benefits mental and physical health.
The manufacture of rounded shapes requires very specific technology and know-how, in which Atim has invested heavily in recent years. We support large furniture manufacturers in the development of customized solutions for their most ambitious projects.
Keep an eye on these 3 design trends for 2023 and your interior design projects will surely be a success!
With over 25 years of experience in the creation of innovative solutions for the furniture industry, Atim offers one-of-a-kind products and services for furniture manufacturers, architects and interior designers. For more information or to request a quotation, contact us!

Milestones and prospects: Atim’s CEO takes stock of the year and celebrates 2022
As we approach the end of 2022 it is inevitable to take a moment to take stock of what was lived and built during the last year.
First of all, I would like to thank all the customers and partners who believe in our product and offer it in different parts of the world. I also thank, in a special way, our collaborators who contribute every day to the growth of Atim with their work and are the engine that keeps our company alive.

The achievements of 2022
2022 has been a year of great challenges and changes.
After its acquisition in 2020, we concluded the transfer of Pm Aluproject to its new headquarters in Settimo Milanese and on November 1st we completed its merger with Atim. We are now, officially, a single company and a single team.
Speaking of teams, this year we welcomed with great pleasure and joy new salesmen and new distributors who will support us in many national and international territories, bringing Atim solutions to markets that did not yet know us. We have also welcomed several new workers who joined the company, increasing our team with their skills.
With great satisfaction we achieved an extraordinary result in terms of turnover, which grew by more than 15% compared to 2021. We continued to expand our production capacity, with the renewal of our warehouses, and to invest in our production line. These are proofs of Atim’s great solidity, especially in the difficult economic and political scenarios that not only our sector, but all of Europe and many other markets are currently facing.
Prospects for 2023

Speaking of issues that are closer to us, the main challenge we’ll face next year is the integration of new workers into our production departments. Italy is facing a major social problem and we realize that the lack of personnel could make industrial development in our country difficult not only in 2023, but in the years to come.
Finally, on a more personal note: I consider Christmas a very special time. It’s not just a day on the calendar, but it has always represented a state of mind, in which the child in me magically awakens.
Even though I’m no longer a kid, I always write my letter to Santa Claus with the wishes that I would like to see come true in the coming year. For 2023, I wish for Atim to receive these gifts:
- – Going back to living in a peaceful world and returning to our dear old normality;
- – Consolidate the extraordinary goals achieved in the last two-year period;
- – Having the possibility of hiring other personnel, who’ll help us to do better and to do more;
- – Continue our investment path to computerize and automate processes;
- – Making a secret dream of mine come true (which I will only reveal next year… 😊)
I wish you Happy Holidays and a peaceful start to 2023!

Arriving in Brazil is part of a plan to expand the presence of the Trasformabili Atim around the world, specifically with the aim of reaching more South American and Latin American customers. “We want to reach furniture manufacturers, furniture artisans and customers with our solutions, created to increase functionality and improve the use of living spaces according to the activities that each person carries out throughout the day. The strong experience of Givi Mobili in the sector has confirmed that they are the right partners to bring the Trasformabili line to Brazil ”, explains Vanessa Moretti, commercial manager of Atim.
The kick-off in Brazil

Investments in intralogistics: the expansion of Atim’s alluminium warehouse
After the expansion of our warehouse for Just in Time deliveries and the inauguration of the new PM Alluproget headquarters, we are now modernizing our aluminum rod warehouse.
The expansion operations involved the creation of 5 external hangars and the installation of a full-height storage structure in the internal warehouse. Changes that have allowed us to double the storage capacity of raw materials for our production: we can store up to 500 aluminum bundles, varying in length between 4 and 8 meters.
In addition, the loading and unloading operations have been speeded up by the arrival of a new forklift with side grip equipped with cameras on the picking floor. The new high-tech vehicle and the implementation of a new shelf coding system, which facilitates the location of the packages, are the first steps towards an automated system for the inventory of bars.
Improvements towards a more efficient production
Greater efficiency in storage is the prospect for greater production efficiency: the revamp of the bar warehouse allows us to face the global difficulties in the supply of aluminum, which are still critical, and offer our customers more guarantees and speed in the delivery of their orders.
We are constantly working to make our company more efficient and in step with the needs of the market. For this reason, Atim invests in innovation and technology in a transversal way: to create high-end products, increase services and enhance our production processes.

Atim was awarded for “its constant commitment to the development of innovation in the company, which made it be recognized by the main players in the sector as a synonym of ‘Made in Italy’ genius“.
Several factors contributed to this recognition: the Trasformabili furniture solutions, a line of products which are in constant evolution and expansion; the lean and reactive management model, which regularly studies and adopts new technologies for our production processes; and creative solutions at the service of the various stakeholders – specifically the inauguration of We2You in the midst of the pandemic, which made it possible to maintain the effectiveness of personal meetings with partners and customers around the world even during lockdowns.

Increase the available home space with transformable furniture solutions
The available space of a house or apartment is extremely important to make us feel comfortable but, paradoxically, today it is what is missing the most: real estate spaces are reduced every day, replaced by small rooms where people have to live and to which they have to adapt their activities.
You may be wondering “how to optimize domestic environments and obtain extra space?”
The answer is to incorporate Transformable solutions into the furniture.
Solutions to optimize space in the kitchen
Let’s start with the Oplà Top system, which occupies only the space of a drawer compartment. By extracting and lifting Oplà Top, with a very simple movement, the mechanism is positioned at the height of the kitchen top, increasing the space available for food preparation or to create a small extra table where people can have a snack.
Another very useful transformable mechanism is Cocktail, ideal for small apartments, where having a table or countertop for breakfast normally requires people to sacrifice a lot of the space available. With Cocktail you can create a table ranging from 450mm to 1200mm in width and which can accommodate up to 2 people. With this furnishing solution, the space of the apartment remains fully available, according to the needs of each activity of the day.
There are other mechanisms, created especially to extend the top of linear counters, islands and peninsulas. An example is Corner, which allows you to extend the corner of the kitchen counter, creating the perfect place to sit comfortably at the table and enjoy a good meal.
How to make the best use of space in a small house
It is worth emphasizing that the Transformable mechanisms are not limited to kitchen furnishings. We can apply them in the bathroom, in the bedroom, in the living room, in the laundry area… the possibilities are endless: it all depends on your needs and creativity!
Desk is an excellent example: it is a flap opening system for the door of a wardrobe or bookcase. With Desk you create a comfortable and resistant desk, capable of withstanding up to 20kg – enough to serve as a changing table for babies in the first months of life.
To conclude this list of ideas for the home, there is the Prua pull-out and space-saving ironing board. Prua can be incorporated into a closet cabinet, a bathroom drawer or in the laundry area according to preference. Thanks to a light and resistant aluminum system, Prua remains hidden, but available and easily accessible when needed.
When designing the interiors of a house or apartment, it is not enough just to think about maximizing space: it is also necessary to take into account the needs of the customer. For furniture professionals and individuals looking for particularly modern and functional solutions, the Atim transformable mechanisms are an excellent option and a guarantee for the creation of unique, versatile and aesthetically pleasing spaces.

Apartment Office Ideas for a Stylish and Productive Workspace
How to create the perfect office space and work better from home? We collaborated with Redfin to put together a list of great tips and tricks.
If you work from home, you know how important it is to have a dedicated office space. Having an area that’s clear from clutter, organized, and calming can help lower stress and boost productivity during the workday. However, some apartment-dwellers find it challenging to find the space to create an office in their unit.
To help you find some apartment office ideas, Redfin put together a list that’ll inspire you to create a stylish and productive workspace – even if you’re low on square footage. Whether you’re renting an apartment in New York or a condo in Seattle, you’re sure to find a way to incorporate an office space into your apartment.
1. Create a dedicated office space
Make sure you have a dedicated space for your office to separate your work mindset from your home mindset. If you start every day with your laptop at your kitchen table, move to your couch, and finish up emails in your bedroom, you won’t have a place to get away from work. We recommend a desk or workspace, no matter how big or small, where you can fully focus on your day job, so you can leave that work behind at the end of your day.
2. Utilize closet space
If you have a small rental home, don’t worry – big home office dreams can still happen in small spaces. “Hook” your next client as you set up shop in your coat closet. Add a drop-down desk, some lighting, and shelves, and hang those coats on hooks by the door.
Closets aren’t just for clothes anymore. Save space and build a desk, shelves, or whatever else your home office needs inside your closet. This way, it’s hidden away when you have guests, but you’d be surprised how much you can build inside a closet. Paint it a fun color and leave the doors open – you’ll get tons of compliments.
3. Keep your space clutter-free
For ultimate productivity, always keep your desk and work area clean and free of dust and clutter. Arrange your work area efficiently by keeping items you use frequently like your printer, phone, inbox, and working files within easy reach. Personalize your home office space by adding a few family photos and plants, but don’t go overboard as your goal is to keep your work area professional, orderly, and clutter-free.
4. Maximize your office storage with a tall bookshelf
Add decorative storage boxes to hold printer paper and supplies, a desktop file box for important papers, and an inbox for incoming papers. This frees up your desk (or dining table) for work and helps create a system for handling paper in your home.
5. Choose simple decor
When designing an office space in your apartment, consider placing your desk in front of or by a window. This maximizes productivity and improves focus. While it might be tempting to fill this space with all manner of mementos and knickknacks, sometimes these items can compete with our attention and create unnecessary clutter. Instead, furnish your office space with a single inspiring quote, air-purifying plants, and an oil diffuser to reduce stress.
6. Invest in ergonomic equipment
Comfort is important and ergonomics is equally as important. Spend a little extra on ergonomics; a good chair that has your back, a combination of an ergonomic keyboard and mouse (even when using your laptop), and a standing desk are all great investments. And as a productivity hack, get a second monitor — it’s worth its cost.
7. Choose multi-functional furniture
It’s rare for people to have enough space to reserve an entire extra room to be an office. The trick? Furniture that transforms or hides what’s inside.
Have you ever thought about pulling a whole workstation out of a bookshelf? Or keeping a whole table inside a standard drawer?
Transformable furniture is an amazing way to grant more versatility to any home environment. They are much more than space-saving: they’re a functional, smart, and elegant way to make our homes more resourceful and able to support our different daily activities.
8. Find the perfect location
When designing a home office in an apartment, consider the location carefully. Will you enjoy sitting in this space all day? Consider how you orient the desk for both comfort and productivity. And last but not least, don’t allow your home office to be the dumping ground for clutter. Clutter negatively affects your focus, making you less productive.
9. Personalize your space
Pick a statement item such as wallpaper, a unique light, or a fun piece of furniture, and build off of it!

How to furnish a small house: solutions for space-saving and functional furniture
How to choose the right furniture for a small apartment? Here are some ideas, tips and advice on how to furnish small spaces. Find inspiration with many examples and photos of space-saving furniture solutions.
Light colors, adequate lighting and the application of mirrors certainly work well to make spaces feel wider, but it is furniture the key element to make rooms actually more spacious, functional and well organized.
The golden rule for furnishing a small house or a small apartment is to take advantage of every useful corner to make it highly functional, as well as aesthetically satisfying. Using space-saving furniture equipped with transformable solutions is the ideal solution to have a more versatile home, able to quickly change, transform and adapt to the dynamism of modern life.
Tips for furnishing small houses
Equip the walls with shelves and pull-out tables
Optimizing the spaces in the living area may seem like a challenge, but it’s actuallty quite simple with transformable furnishing solutions. You can easily pull-out a desk from a library compartment, for example: Oplà +39 adds an extra table that opens and closes with a simple movement, in order to engage or free space as needed.
Have an island with a sliding top at the open space
With little space available for the kitchen and living room, having an open space is often the preferred architectural solution in small appartments. The island becomes a great ally of aesthetics and functionality, acting as a separator between the two areas.
But what if it were also an aggregator? Sliding tops can totally or partially cover the surface of the island, allowing it to be used for both kitchen and living room activities. With a single movement, the island expands or becomes compact, adapting to the needs of the moment.
Solutions such as the Top33 can hide the induction or electric hob as well as the sink, which are revealed only when it’s time to prepare the meal and have a large table to enjoy the dishes. When dinner is over, just put the top back in its original position to free up the space, making the house more spacious, tidy and aesthetically pleasing.
Optimize the space in the kitchen

Expand the kitchen surfaces as needed
Kitchen surfaces never seem to be enough – even more so in small homes. The transformable furnishing solutions give more versatility to the kitchen at the same time as they optimize the available space.
You can use a standard drawer to store a pull-out top extension: Oplà Top positions itself flush with the top to increase the useful surface of the kitchen whenever it’s necessary. The system is also easy to clean and to put back in its drawer with a single movement.
Choose a space-saving pull-out table
A standard drawer compartment is enough to hide an entire table: thanks to surprising space-saving systems, such as the Lunch model by Atim, a table can be extracted from inside a drawer, useful for a quick snack or to place ingredients and utensils necessary for the preparation of food.
Innovate with multifunctional solutions in the kitchen
Maximize every space of the kitchen using multifunctional furnishing solutions, which make life much more practical.
Systems like Cook create a true chef’s corner, even if they only require the space of a standard drawer. Cook brings together 3 functions: cutlery holder, cutting board and snack table – with the addition of a convenient aluminum basket for collecting what has been cut and blend the ingredients.
Install glass sliding doors for extra light
In confined spaces, it is worth evaluating the advantages of sliding glass doors. Why? Because the sliding glass doors not only serve to divide spaces without cluttering, but also allow natural light to easily circulate among the different rooms. An illuminated environment increases the feeling of spaciousness of the house and directly affects the well-being of the inhabitants.
Atim sliding door mechanisms can add that right touch of design to the environment.

The right furniture to create a space-saving Home Office
How to create a space-saving home office
The Home Office has become the protagonist of interior design since remote working entered everyone’s lives. But is it possible to have an adequate Home Office in an apartment of a few square meters?
Of course it is! Once again the transformable furniture manages not only to create a dedicated workstation, but also to optimize the available space to welcome other activities after the workday is over.
There are plenty of solutions to design the ideal Home Office: from the most discreet, such as equipping a piece of furniture with fold-away or pull-out tables, to the most surprising, like hiding a complete workstation behind the door of a cabinet.

Atim participates in MEDWOOD 2022 and kicks off its operations in Greece
Medwood 2022, the leading furniture component fair in Greece, ended this Monday (April 4). The eighth edition of the event was Atim’s first as an exhibitor, with a dedicated stand and team to personally present the potential of top quality transfomable furniture to hundreds of people.
Medwood was a great opportunity not only to get to know new customers but also our Greek team, who excitedly presented the Trasformabili solutions to manufacturers coming from all the country.

The surprise of discovering what was hidden inside each drawer – a countertop, an extension to the top or even an entire dining table – struck the visitors, who gathered around the stand to see how ease it is to use the Trasformabili mechanisms and Atim’s extendable tables.
In addition to Atim’s booth, it was possible to find other Trasformabili in the stands of partners who have already embraced the technology and design of Atim mechanisms: Glycos exhibited Top 33, while Lygnos applied a Snack Top to its peninsula.

We are very proud of the team that made it all possible and we want to heartly thank Athanasio, Maria, Vasiliki and Drielle, who presented Atim for the first time in Greece. With enthusiasm and sympathy, they welcomed all visitors and demonstrated the versatility of the Trasformabili solutions to each and everyone, making Atim’s presence at the fair a great success!
Medwood officially marks the start of our collaborations in the Greek and Cypriot markets, in order to offer surprising furnishing solutions, of the highest Made in Italy quality, with that extra touch of design even to the most demanding customers and manufacturers.
